Sorry for the delay in new work people. I have been out of commision for the last week. I have had a horribly infected tooth. I got a root canal yesterday and still recovering. I have to go back in ten days for the second round to make sure they got all the infection out. I will be back on the torch asap. Please stay tuned !!

I was served both these bad boys, the ice pinch slide and the silver-and-gold-fumed "swat style" pushie, at SYG, and at fantastic prices, even more considering the quality and beauty of these small but substantial works of (extremely functional) art.
Of course, pictures never do justice to glass art, but I have to say, both of these are much more beautiful than even these excellent pics suggest (I didn't take them, I swiped them from the SYG thread, but mine aren't ready for prime time).

http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll205/puffnpass/slides%20and%20diffusers/SilverbeachIPslideforweb2.jpg

But another thing pictures can't convey is craftsmanship and "heft." Both of these feel like they've got about a kilo of glass in each. In fact, if you needed to slug someone hard and didn't have a roll of coins handy, you could do worse than to tuck one of these big bad boys up in your fist. I'm not kidding -- they're solid.

The fumed pushie is now at the top of my DD rotation. I usually prefer Martinis, and teeny 'tini's at that, but this thing's got a perfect little hemispherical push, and the glass is so thick that it might as well be a 'tini. I'm dirtying it up good 'n proper to get some nice color, and I'm trying to get a decent pic to post.

Thanks again to all concerned! Get well, Sasha! Then get back to work! :-0"

Sublithic needs to get a job as a writer for Adult Swim I think. You are fuc*ing funny as hell bro. You made my mouth hurt I was laughing so damn hard. I am doing a bit better by the way and so is the wife. I plan to get back on the torch in the next day or so. Thanks again Sublithic !!!!

Thanks for the props but most of my customers request holes actually. I have the proper tools for slits. The holes are much more personal I guess from a custom point of view. The slits are made by a machine. I think people like the fact I pop all my holes accordingly to thr joint size and chamber space. Its all about function wright?

it just seems like the upward directed d-slits on my zach p. mini inline make the hit so smooth and drag free. holes would just seem like it would break up the smoke bubbles less. I have NEVER hit one of your pieces so its hard for me to judge between the two.

To be honest I have used inlines with slits, holes, d-cuts, etc.. Once you go past 6-9 holes or so on a basic inline 14 or 18mm its kinda pointless. You then will get over or under drag depending on whatever type holes you have. The inline is still new to functional glass. People are overly experementing at the moment. But I do see your point. But honestly side by side a inline is an inline. As long as the holes are equal to the dimamater of your gog joint and the air space of the piece itself.

My waiting list is two and a half months currentley. I use USPS for regular shipping and Fedex for overnights. My custom inline ac's start at $200.00 by the way. Most of the inline bubbs and ac's I have made are in the $250.00-$400.00 range.

your work is nice and I can appreciate it but that comment is farrr from the truth, many members on here would agree with me as well.

You took that out of context a bit. I was talking about the fact that the shape of the holes do not affect the hit if they amount to the same size. Size equals drag or lack of drag which equals a good or bad hit. Like I have said before the inline is still a new creation and people are overley experementing on the shape and design. How many inlines have you made and used? Im guessing none. Its funny you said this since your the only person to ever disagree with me on this subject.

I have made and used a lot more then tha bro. Its been out for about two maybe three years now. Thats very new considering glass bubblers have been around for about 15 years. The origonal maker of the Inline is Hops. Im sure their were factors of those inlines you used you never even considered. Your a user not a maker. Your talking about your personal experience with inlines I didnt even make. Im talking about the technical aspects of the inline. Its all math bro.

04-16-2009, 02:08 AM
Oh thats cool you've used a lot? then I would figure you'd know better. Pretty sure hops has been making these for about 3 years. Factors with my inline? yeah there were some. like the joint angles on the ac and the tube didn't match up how i'd have liked. the slits weren't perpendicular to the floor and it didn't diffuse perfectly. also mine have about 18 slits I wish it would have had about 12 because then it would have diffused perfect and but at the very least ten slits. Yeah your right I'm the user. I'm the guy who shells out his hard earned money for functional glass art and I'd somewhat like to get what i pay for ( even though the mark up on glass is fucking insane).

I'm talking technical to, bro. I'm sure you know if you have an inline with 6 big ass holes and another with 10 smaller holes the one with 10 will diffuse better.

So you answered yourself. The inline you used had over drag. To many holes for the gog joint size. Thats all I was saying in the fist place. Like I said you took my comment out of context. I was correcting you because you were and are now realizing your wrong. And I said Hops had been making them for 2-3 years because he took a year off. And I dont mark my glass up a bit bro. I charge what I should be. The head shops jack the price not us. And you think I need to please you because your a random guy? Im on a two and a half month custom waiting list for people who do want my work. And your still wrong about the 6-10 hole annology. It all depends on the gog size and the air space of the piece. Six holes would be much better on a small inline ac then 10. Ten would cause it to overdrag. I made a micro with 4 holes and the guys who purchased it likes it better then his $1,000.00 tree perced Toro. That says it all.

I am the man Sasha speaks of with the micro inline. I don't know what you are debating about with Sasha as I have not read far enough back.
I will say the inline trumps a lot of smaller pipes I have hit. Amazingly smooth and gives you a great tasting aromatic hit. Sasha is up and coming and will take the scene by storm with the work he has been doing lately. There is more to why his waiting list of work is so long, and its not because of multiple root canals-- it's because people like his work.
There are very few people as humble a man as he, and that says a lot. He cranks out some killer art and keeps himself grounded and is not big headed at all.

Great work indeed. Keep it up and don't stop innovating. At first I wasn't a huge fan of your color schemes and fuming work, but the more and more I look at it, the more and more I love it. I really can't explain it, but what I can say clearly is that your style might be imitated, but never matched.

Speaking of schedules, how's my busted Illy doing? Any news? :)

Thanks for the kind words bro. Its much appreciated. I had a time set back with my wifes health. But I will be catching up very soon hopefully. I have not been on the torch for the last two weeks. Its killing my wallet and my brain. I will keep you updated.

Sorry I have not posted anything for a while. I have injured my back as well as our AC dying on us in the middle of summer in Florida. I am still doing my best to catch up on my custom work. Its slow going but im getting thr. I have been trying to mostly produce smaller customs because the bigger pieces with all the weight kill my back. I hope to be back to 100% very soon. I am very sorry for the delay to my customers and friends. Its been a ruff last couple months for our family. Between my health and my wife's health.

Here is the last custom piece I made before I hurt my back about a month ago. I ended up selling it because the customer apparantley is now on probation and will not return my emails. Its a 18mm mini inline with cut slits.

Seems every glass blower complains about, or has a bad back already. despite most being under 30 years old. I get you, i am not even 25 and i already have terrible back pain from an automobile accident and also, football injuries.

Its such a freakin pain in my ass, literally!

I feel ya bro. I will be 35 this year. My back has given me issues since I was 17. To much skate boarding, gymnastics, surfing, fighting, snowboarding, etc.. Your early life can be very fun and then kick your ass for the rest of your days. I feel for you DCALLSTARR it only gets worse with age. Most lampworkers do have back, neck, or shoulder issues. Its very pyhsically hard work to do what we do behind a 3000 degree plus torch while standing in the same place for several hours.

I will do my best to get back into action asap.
