nah the Xl has a pump.
I think it could be any number of things... not sure if he's dropping the main hose into the bucket.
Or one time before we had a unit not working and the guy took it apart and he had no belt on his pump. Perhaps its fallen off? have you checked.
I would love to know this is working for you so lets gett it happenin.
once its cleaned, just put some fresh water in your unit, drop the hose into a bucket or a sink, and turn to drain.. If its not working take the little screws off at the back bottom and check out whats going on in there..
another good idea is to blow or suck on the hose to try and dislodge anything that may have gotten in there. Although its highly doubtful it would be water sealed. EVEn with gravity that hose should drain..
my thoughts... less than a penny

The most common problem is that on most of the units you have to turn on the timer as well as setting the dial to the "Drain" setting. Some of the units drain without turning on the timer but most do not.
If the pump is making noise but not draining - as Bubble Man said, a hose might be obstructed or the belt might be disconnected, missing or broken. If you need a new belt, call us at 1-866-635-8464 and we'll send one out.
It's important to make sure your zipper bag is tied closed when you use the machine, so that leaves don't get sucked into the pump.
There is also an adjustment that can be made inside the machine - the drain control sometimes needs to be moved so that the hook is in the next position.
To adjust drain control:
1. Remove the back access panel - there are two screws holding it on.
2. As you are looking at the access panel, the drain control sits in the leg of the machine that is closest to you and to your left. Remove the screw holding the drain control in place.
3. The tab on the drain control unit has 3 different holes drilled in it - move the hook to the next lowest position.
It's a bit tricky to maneuver, if anything breaks just give us a call at 1-866-635-8464 and we can send you replacement parts. This isn't a common problem but it does occur.
I'll put some photos up later today.

Here are the photos of the drain control adjustment procedure:

3. Here you can see the drain control unit, lifted up, and the hook where it is attached to the unit. The hook sometimes needs to be moved to the next hole down, toward the bottom of the machine.

This is another problem that we have become aware of recently - it should be fixed with the next batch of machines. Inside the machine there is a black, cylindrical shaped object with two yellow wires (the condenser). The condenser can become dislodged from the housing/holder that it sits in.
If this happens, it bounces around loose inside the machine and can get caught in the belt for the motor. At that point, usually a loud noise is heard and the motor stops.
In most cases this can be fixed just by opening the back cover, putting the wire back on the condenser, and replacing the condenser in its housing. The housing for it is basically a circular indentation on the bottom of the machine. It seems that these come loose if the machine is turned upside down, and we've been doing everything we can to keep UPS from flipping them but it doesn't seem like they care.
Here is a photo of the condenser, pulled out of the machine:

And another showing where it belongs, in the bottom right corner you can see the bottom of the condenser sitting in the grey housing/holder.

Again, we are working with the factory to find a better way to secure the condenser inside the machine, but in most cases this is a simple fix that takes about 5 minutes.
