you got some sort of insurance on that case mate? Lol

Nah the bastards won't insure it because of its function :(

OnlyHighGrade
11-05-2009, 06:55 PM
get home/ apartment insurance. Me and My girl's place is insured up to 50k in theft or damage. You can get more coverage for a higher premium. The insurer told me that included everything. Including all of our art work (we both paint) and our glass sculptures. Even all my vinyl!

PS- Just incase you don't have any immediate family. Feel free to include me in your will.

Sick dude rockin the proto type like me lol! Anyways, dude you buy more glass then me... We all have our way on collecting money from "the system" but wtf man cmo send me a tube or something! Theres nothing like the feeling of getting a new tube tho.. Beats oil and herb itself.. Its addicting aswell haha! Enjoy that beutiful collection!

ps. 2 questions i noticed alot of stuff in there that u prolly dont use much scince u have that top shelf of tubes lol. Why not sell like 2 or 3 of the roors and get one or two sgs or somethin. And 2 did u really clean everything that was dirty for pix lol? I wondered that last time u posted a cab shot..

Glassaholic
11-11-2009, 08:57 AM
Thanks mate, I always say that the glass is way more addictive than the herb we put through it ;)
I don't sell anything from my collection though I have given some smaller pieces to friends, my aim is to build it up not tear it down ;)
I always have one tube in GO, one in use and the rest are clean and in their place in the cab.

Yeah, it's a bit of a sore point with me atm, he had to pick it up from the post office and when he did it was apparently still dirty and said he'd soak it in GO overnight before shipping.
Turns out a bunch of "personal" shit went down and now he's out of town until Thursday but reckons he'll overnight it when he gets back which will be an amazing feat considering I'm in Aus lol. I'll be lucky to see it this side of Christmas as the post starts turning to shit this time of year :(.

Yeah, I'd definitely have to say I think that the Pillar perc design is very aesthetically pleasing. I can't say anything about the functionality because I've yet to try one, but I'm sure it's up to par with the rest of SG's line-up... which is rather daunting, I must say.

Yeah, it really is. It seems to bring out the flavour of your herb more than a single chamber yet filters like nothing else I've tried, I don't know why, I'm guessing it's got something to do with the smoke expanding in the dry chamber before being water filtered.

From all the reviews that I've read of the pillar perc, it will definitely be my next SG pickup. I will also most likely be getting a mini, as I'm a big fan of yours, Glassaholic :)

I see it now. How does the water get down from the dry chamber into the grid/wet chamber though? I understand after that it travels up through the pillars. Does the second grid just acts as more filtration and a splash guard? Can you REALLY taste the herbs better??? That is what I need to know.

OrganicOdins420

yes you can.

I wrote this description on another forum;
The smoke enters a dry chamber before moving through the hole in the middle of the surrounding "pillars" and out through the gridded 4 arms at the bottom then the bubbles that are created travel back up those pillars to the section above them where it froths into micro bubbles before passing through the splashguard and mouthpiece.

As for taste, yes you definitely taste the herbs better.

It's best not to snap the ash through into the CF as it creates extra drag, it does however stop 100% of ash as well as 95% of the tar ;)

whats your input about the drag from the carbon filter. ive used a few more so when i was in amsterdam at coff shops and it just was not my cup of team. and then recently i used one at my boys house and it was terribale ruined his toobs function so bad!

Glassaholic
12-24-2009, 07:12 AM
Well first let me say that when I clear the tube I pull the filter so there's 0 drag on clearing, as for drag on milking the tube I bet your friend used fine carbon granules. I use carbon pellets which filter just as well but offer only the tiniest amount of additional drag which is truly barely noticeable and doesn't impact the tubes functionality at all. Another thing that adds drag is some people use a meteor or other glass gauze that blocks the airflow, using a stainless gauze of around 15mm is the way to go.

BigManNew
12-24-2009, 08:56 AM
What I would do to eliminate drag is use the carbon pellets that Glassaholic uses but instead of using a regular carbon filter (with a screen) I would use the one that has a glass screen with seven holes or more

midwestdream
12-24-2009, 05:42 PM
pellets and stainless screen are the way to go. their is barely any drag for me and I love knowing my tubes won't need to be cleaned as often/ aggressively.

Thanks. You can pick up cf's from Aqualab tech now for about $35

TH when I get the new Itza in I'll be able to first hand judge the quality of the glass and work which I expect to be at least the same level of quality as Toro, rest assured though if it isn't I'll quite happily state that in a review thread just as readily. Now if JP or Steve could be easily contacted and contracted to produce a custom one of the same level of work for $700 and have it ready relatively quickly I'd be interested but I also wanted a circ/circ something neither Toro or SG make unless I'm mistaken.
I'll still buy Toro's if I see one that interests me the same as SG (especially SG, Steve is the King of innovation), it doesn't mean I can't like Itza as well. Personally I don't care if companies make the same products, I'll just buy the ones that appeal to me and are of high quality, I already own a Toro 8/13 so obviously an Itza one doesn't appeal to me, that still doesn't mean they aren't top notch tubes that I might of bought if I was in the market for one and wanted a custom one made for me without throwing down $1k +.

thats what i heard was the most provocative aspect of the pillar.. its smooth like a perc'd SG but it retains the flavor of your medication..

i dont really mind, i just feel like id rather have all those grid's in that peyote ball perc rather then the typical stemless versions of the pillars that most people have. after i saw those video's HMR put up and saw all those bubbles stacking i was just amazed..

like most everyone else, at first i didnt understand how the pillar perc even worked, not the bottom section but the 8 or 12 tubes that have no diffused grid's/slits or anything on them. hpidriver explained it to me as if the pillar in the tube was an expansion chamber in my cars engine and all of a sudden, BLAM i understood it hahaha

I had an Itza 50mm Circ/Circ, one of the first ones I had seen, and I like the looks of yours a lot. I think I'd actually keep yours, haha. I got rid of mine because I didn't like it within a few weeks of owning it.

Damn dude... lol. Like i asked b4, do you clean every tube and slide and ac for the pics? Or do u not use everything? Also, the joint on ur itza dub is 50mm. If u compare the tubing for the first can to your other 50mm sgs it will be the same. If you compare the bore of the first can to, lets say your pillars top part (which is obviously 44), you can see the 44 is smaller. Thus 50mm can = 50mm joint. And the toro had the same size joint. I dont think they even make a 44mm joint lol. Just fyi!

Glassaholic
01-08-2010, 12:25 AM
I asked ODM to confirm it which he did, it's 100% 44mm, they were using 50mm for these but stopped because of issues and have switched to 44mm, I'm not lying lol.

I only ever have 1 set of glass (tube, slide and ac or cf) in use at 1 time, when I swap them for another the dirty ones get a GO soak and whatever was in soak gets rinsed and put back in the cabinet. So in effect I only have to clean 1 set for a cab pic ;)

Do you find smoke less enjoyable with the straight Roor's

percs r the reason i stop useing my roors. but i did enjoy the north london hippy for bubble hash use thats for sure but i traded it away miss that lil guy. if u get a roor take a look at the hipy. ive been to the roor shop in adam so ive seen alot of roors but the hippy has always been my fav besides like the one of a kind customs they do for the cc cup and stuff.

yo glass did u see those roor hops collab bman posted??? what did u think if i could ever get one of those i would def snag it. in my eyes roor still uses the best glass money can buy.

The RooR's only get used for vaping with my Herborizer occasionally, they're more decorative than anything else nowadays as technology has really passed RooR .de by even for single chambers there's been huge improvements over the basic straight tube with diffuser.

Edit: Those RooR/hops/dizzle pieces are off the hook, I'd buy those in a heartbeat :snake:

Lol, that's a bushing adapter TH, the slide is 14mm ;)

Lol, the preceedings to this comment were pretty funny.
I wanted to ask someone who had experience with these but never have; does using a bushing adapter cause much drag on your tubes, or really affect the hit in any way?
I see a ton of 14mm bowls these days that I want but I have fixed stems and none of them are 14mm.
Knowing you have one should be a good enough indicator, but I'm sensitive about my hit, I like very consistent flow.

Glassaholic
01-16-2010, 09:08 PM
There is no difference at all to the hit between an 18 or a 14 /w bushing adapter.

Tobybologna

Balling, think I'll pick up an adapter then. Unfortunately I missed the boat on the slide I wanted. :( A revere window that was on Shinobi.

ehhh glassaholic my bushing adapter causes the tube to have alot less flow but maybe its because the hole at the bottom of it is kinda small ... really small compared to clearing through an 18mm joint. So i guess it depends on the adapter you have.

Glassaholic

A bushing adapter like this one from Aqualabs
http://www.aqualabtechnologies.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/135x135/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/I/M/IMG_3006_1.jpg

Is meant to stay on the slide so when you pull the slide to clear it comes with it so you clear through an 18.8 joint as per normal, when milking the smallest point of constriction is the hole in the push so effective joint size at that point is no different between a 14.5 or 18.8 slide.

I'm guessing you're either talking about an 18.8/14.5 bushing diffuser which is another kettle of fish or you're kecking the adapter in place on the joint of the tube.

ToRo Head
01-19-2010, 02:18 AM
I agree bassak i def notice a difference not huge but theirs def a bit less flow. ive owned 2 14s a jason lee and a deppe. the deppe hits a thousand times better then the lee did but jlee does most of his slides with really small pushes which didnt help at all. mostly bewteen the 2 the hole in the push was everything. the deppe is perfect so not much of a difference the lee was small and hit like crap.

wow glass u thought me something new i didnt know u were suppost to keep that on the slide. ill b trying that next time i use the deppe on the toro hops!

Glassaholic
01-19-2010, 02:22 AM
Yeah, that's why you notice a difference because by leaving the adapter on the joint/diffy you are in effect turning the entire joint into a 14.5mm, when it stays on the slide when you pull it it stays at 18.8mm.

ToRo Head

it's not about the size of the push ( the indent into the glass where the bud goes), but the punch ( the actual hole in the push) is what determines how it'll hit.

but that's only as far as slides goes.

right on, which is exactly why an ice pinch slide, or a disc or something of that nature will flow even more than a push, because theres more room for air to pass through. I have a 18/14 reducer made by SGW that I use all the time, but ya it definately doesnt cut down on the air flow, its all in the push hole/ice pinch.

Glassaholic
01-19-2010, 06:36 AM
I want to get a multi hole push to try as well, for a hakko I like holes better but for a flame the icepinch is great.

Yea, the SG 4 hole slide flows great, I got one when I picked up a gridcap/8 and it functions awesome.. Ive used it on my mini waffle before and gotten it to stack well past the ice pinches with the 4hole. Definately worth picking one up if you can. You wont be let down, never used a LW disc though. SGW also has a "web" bowl too I believe, would like to try one of those too.

My tear drops are suitable for fixed stems, the push in them is closer to a normal angle than a lot of them are, also using a Hakko or Phedor in my case stops anything falling out ;)
