Have many of you here on FMB heard of a fairly new music movement known as Dub step?
Here is a few songs that i like to bob my head to after smoking a bowl, they might be a little raw for some though. Please tell me what you think......

By the way these songs sound a lot different with a good sound system or set of headphones, standard computer speakers don't do too well with the bass and compression used in these songs.

YouTube- Bar 9-Triple Drop

YouTube- Substep Infrabass - 666 (Original Mix - UNRELEASED)
One of my favorites, if i'm not mistaken Substep Infrabass is an old metal band that started making music again when they heard the darkness in Dubstep.

YouTube- DatsiK - Havoc [Dubstep]
Wait for the drop

YouTube- Excision & DatsiK - Swagga

YouTube- Koan Sound - Mafia
Another one of my favorites

So let me know what you think and don't forget to burn one before listening.

fairly new?? dubstep has been around almost as long as the dnb movement. it was described to me as the logical next step in uk 2step garage. its interesting stuff but way too annoying (IMO) for consistent listening.

Well i think that its newer than any other type of music other than fuckin hyphy or the now proclaimed "club" genre.

just moved to humboldt county. dubstep is all the rage up here. every party i have been to has guys spinning it. not necessarily my cup of tea but I am a huge reggae fan so I definitely appreciate it for what it is. Anyways, you like dubstep, move to nor cal. Many a dubstep party on mountain tops catered with all the mind altering substances you want to indulge in until the sun comes up!

I consider artists like skream, rusko, caspa, etc.. beginner dubstep. They seem to be the artists that most people starting off listen to.

And OP, Dubstep/Grime has been around for a while. It started off in the UK and it just recently started moving into the US. Get wit it kid!

My favorite artists that I can think of atm are Reso, DZ, Ganja White Night, Martyn, DatsiK, Cookie Monsta, Funtcase, Babylon System, and Nero.

I actually made a thread based on the different types of dubstep on Grasscity (Before I was wrongly banned )

Ganja white Night is that shit..alot of what you name MH consider most of what you named as darker dubstep, deeper synths, etc...regardless it is an excellent jump off to any kind of tokin'

Great thread here guys, its really fun to see this spread out again. Dog fish is correct when he said said

" fairly new?? dubstep has been around almost as long as the dnb movement. it was described to me as the logical next step in uk 2step garage "

uk dubstep is a little bit different then what we know in the us such as eskmo .... artists like Burial,2562 and Untold are very much the ones who lead the sound as far as i know.

a friend in nyc showed me a off shoot of it called LOVESTEP .. artists such as sepalcure are pushing it hard. check them out.

http://soundcloud.com/sepalcure

great thread. happy to see open minds. and people being excited about new music.
