well spring is in the air, as i saw my first wasp today> More difficult to shoot than you can imagine, i am still blown away at the picture monkey managed to nail of that wasp. Mine are much less clear and quality but i figured i gotta share em here as they are my first.

If you get a chance to macro other wasps from different colonies you'll find that those little masks are different. Each colony has it's own mask pattern, that is, each each individual colony has the same mask pattern for each of its colony members. That's how they can tell when a wasp is from a different colony and shouldn't be there. Great shots, as always, my friend. Also, ants and wasps are cousins, you can consider ants wingless wasps, if you will [ants sting just like wasps, they don't bite.The jaws are just for holding on while they sting your unsuspecting ass].
