Ok so yesterday I was out and about I got out at Broadway and Fraser to change buses. I crossed Broadway and was surprised to see these growing on the median in between lanes. My mom used to collect these when I was a kid for her moose stew recipe. I believe she called them shaggy manes. Was odd to be such benevolent creatures growing as close as possible to one of the busiest streets in Vancouver. In the second pic you can see how close the road is. Peace GS
Shaggy mane mushrooms are quite tasty if you pick them before the bottom edges start to turn black and slimy. A tallish Cone of a fungi. I like them sliced and fried in a bit of butter, yum. These days I might even use canna-butter. Nice find man.
