No they were fused and not reinforced.

brianmichelsart you flew with that tube???? how? I thought it as illegal to carry on glass. Did you check it? I'm surprised it made it. The mail sucks but somehow i trust them more than airport baggage people.

^^^^ I'm not a glassblower, so I can't give you the exact science why they do but I know you can't use the real stuff. Although my friend had this artist Whit blow a chunk of herkimer into a marble on a double bub for him. The glass cracked and spider webbed all weird, it was still cool, but not totally aesthetically pleasing. My friend was more into the gem being a part of the pipe than it actually looking perfect so it was cool.
