A few questions about my grow box

P.S. I posted this on GC as well, so if you saw it in the grow box section there, it's the same. I'm posting here for more opinions, as I met a few people that helped quite a bit in the chat. Many thanks to all the help you provided Mopp, DrB, and Johnny.


I'm looking to start my first grow, and I"m looking to build a closet box.

A bit of info:

Space: 52"x26"x38"

I'm going to be using CFL's do to the height restriction, and flowering the plants at 8-10".. Any issues with that?

I plan on having a 12x24x36 permanent veg chamber/ mother room. That leaves a 40x24x36 area for flowering plants. I was looking for a 3-4oz yield per harvest. Is that realistic?

Should I line the box with mylar, or just paint it flat white?

How many lights would be necessary to completely light the veg chamber? the grow chamber? I'm just checking if the 100w/plant (+30-50 every additional plant), will be suffiicent.

Should I do a fixed light setup, and just move the plants lower as they grow? I think a chain setup in this small of a box would be pretty hard.. Since the plants are staying within 2" from the plants, I figured lowering would be an easy alternative to hanging chains etc.
