sorry for such a lag in reply. thanks for the advice!

so by finding the flowering height you are just finding the ideal height at which to flower the strain to optimize it?

Also I've noticed that your plants are growing as one major cola with bud sites up the entire stalk instead of branching out. are you using a technique to produce this or is this just natural growth?

thanks for all the help again. I'm trying to study all the info i can before i jump in. and i just saw you in the chat room but i was having some computer problems and it wouldn't let me accept it.

hi drbud.. i've got to say i've read alot about your stuff around on the messageboards, and it has convinced me to say good riddance to my hps with all its implications and go for a CFL perpetual SOG grow.. i don't need to grow huge plants, and i certaintly don't need the problems with heat/ventilation and so on

what i was wondering, wouldn't it be easier to control the heights of the plants if i mount the light bulbs at different levels of height in the cabinet? i've seen you have all your lights at the same height in the cabinet pictures you've shown at, for example, icmag...

i've seen you've proximated the height of the clones at induced flowering to the height of the light bulbs, which you have explained will take some time. but do you put something under the bottles when they are small (2-3") so they get closer to the bulbs, or do you keep a little distance from the bulbs to the plants when they are at this stage in order to make them stretch...

just having a little trouble wrapping my head around to the whole light proximity/stretch thing... hope to hear from you, or anyone who is master of the art, for that matter... any help would be highly appreciated

and, since this is my first post, hello to everyone... greetings from norway

i live in a small one-room appartment. It is not very practical for me to have a huge lamp hanging around in my appartment, lighting/heating up the place. I do not have enough cooling capacity to mount the HPS inside a cabinet, so i have the plants in a cabinet with a class roof and the lamp hanging over....

the 600W is overkill for my space, and i would rather just like to grow some personal stash inside of a small cabinet.

the way i see it, this would give me more control on the environment for the plants (temp./hum.), and also more security and a more livable appartment....
i don't care if my yield gets smaller, i just want to grow a little bud to smoke now and then anyways....

    Hey Doc
First off i want to thank you for inspiring me. I stumbled across your threads on GC and IC in January and have since built myself a sweet setup basically mimicking your old grow, without the batteries
Not gonna lie, I'm having a lot of fun with my new hobby and again I have you to thank for it.
I was pleased today to find your post on IC directing peeps to this new forum. The daily growth photo compilation in this thread is awesome!
I started from seeds and put 16 bottles in my flowering cabinet to kill time waiting for my mothers to grow. It's been 33 days and my plants are just a fraction of the height your babies are at this time... maybe 1/10th. They are definitely healthy looking and even have nice buds starting but they are just super compact. Unlucky that I don't know a safe server to post some photo's to show you.
My guess is keeping the plants consistently within 2-4cm's of the CFL lights is not ideal. Clearly they need to stretch a lot in order for your system to work.
My question to you is: What is the ideal distance from CFL light to promote that kind of vertical growth?
Thanks ahead of time dude. You are the man!

My soil mix is Perlite,Vermiculite,Chicken Compost, local peat....from a Bog about 10 miles away, and good ol' worm poo. They are fed 4-droppers full of Schultz 10-15-10 ,1 Tbsp. Fish Emultion, and 4 drops SuperThrive per Gallon of water everytime I water

aye doc what you think??? I have 11 10 day old seedlings and 1 barely hanging in all in 1 .08 sqft with 104 watts, 6440 lumens. They were planted in sandy no nute soil. They are on their 2nd set of leaves some starting the 3rd set. the first set of leaves are stating to loose color and yellow. I just feed with half strength miracle grow all purpose 1/4 teaspoon with superthrive. Do you think that would be enough for them to feed and gain their color back. I'm doing a micro from seed and trying to make sure they are healthy before I flip to flower in 4 days.

Does the 'goo' on the leaves from which the trichome glands emerge contain THC as well as the glandular dome on the top of the cellular trichome stalk???
