i've heard some folks talk about how they like the 120 from indicas, i guess i've just never tried one i liked b4.

i was talking with someone about making a 3 screen drum with a 90 & 73 to catch the fat melty heads, & drop the smaller ones with the broken heads & stems on the bottom collection tray.

seemed like a cool idea if we had built it. i have the design on paintbrush but i'd have to dig it up

Let's have a look at your design thenewguy, is it a system with 3 cylinders inside each other or one cylinder with finer flat screen meshes underneath?

either way, the problem when sifting or tumbling with fine meshes like the 70 micron is that all the resin heads under 70u do not freely "fall" or pass through with rotating or side to side sifting unless combined with for example actively carding the material to and fro across the top of the mesh. While that's not impossible to achieve in a machine with cylinders, it would be difficult to make it work well. The other problem with cylinders inside cylinders would that it would keep on resifting the same particles, so probably wouldn't work (as far as I can see??) unless the two outer cylinders only moved in a limited arc or swing, not 360 degree rotations.

Another way would be to have a rotating cylinder above and several shallow bowl shaped meshes underneath that use mechanized blades that move back and forth scraping against the mesh that "card" the kif across the finer meshes, perhaps in combination with vibration or shaking.

There's lots of methods for stripping all the resin heads from the material (long duration tumbling with open meshes, aggressive flat screening etc), and there's also several ways of achieving very high quality dry sift (foremost being Sam's secret method, then there's resifting with multi meshes and achieving several grades of quality, & other methods etc), but none that combines the both, namely stripping 100% of the plan't resin and achieving 100% bubbling quality.....that's the next step in dry sifting we can aim for! an automated dry sifter that does just that would be nice to have. Fill it up, press a button and an hour later the plant material is stripped of all it's goodness and all the resin that's been collected bubbles and domes.

i can't seem to dig it up at the moment & i've been searching for a while now. yes, it was a drum inside a drum design. you have me rethinking that though. 2 flat screen on a frame & a sheet of glass below that would probably be easier to construct. then just card the material across each screen or make it detachable from the bottom of the machine & just shake it by hand like a pollen or wikka box after the drum is finished running.

Carding breaks up veg matter, contaminating your powder. Better to shake or something for less contaminent. Peace GS

i really like that you are coming out with a device that is less laborsome Bubbleman. Personally, I love pulling bags and shaking boxes. However, from a medicinal pov this could really help out a lot of people. I imagine for someone wheel chair bound it would be pretty hard to make bubble on your own. Even the bubble box could present some problems I assume. A machine that anyone could sit back and watch, I feel could really benefit the medical community.

Nice going Bubbleman. Keep on elevating!!!!

How about the "Kiefer Sutherland". Maybe you could even get him to endorse it.

you are right, to some extent, especially when using screens ranging from 80 ~ 130 mesh (approx. 180 ~ 125 micron) ...but when cleaning kif over a 50 ~ 80 micron mesh (so the resin heads stay above the mesh and you want the plant matter to pass through the mesh) carding works well doing that, namely breaking up the bits of leaf and forcing the trichome stalks with it through the mesh holes leaving a higher percentage of resin heads. Shaking or vibration alone doesn't do that so well.

hitting, shaking, agitating, vibrating, carding, tapping, etc etc ...there's lots of ways that can be done gently or aggressively. Pick a method that works well for you.

The Unit : The Trichome Extraction Unit ... friend came up with this name the other day... am kinda liking it..
    what do you guys think..

    THE UNIT......

Hahahah the keifer sutherland.. dude thats hilarous... although i think keifer may be more into a rock tumbler than a sift tumbler...

The Unit should be out around xmas/newyears time...

glad everyone has been digging it...

Hey thenewguy one of the first things i ever told the company florawhirl was theMULTI TUMBLERS Screens.. however much like kief it kunta mentions.. the heads don't really free fall thru at those sizes as much as they need to be carded and seperated thru. I am stoked on adding a secondary screen above the catchplate and beneath the actual tumbler screen.> This will allow for people to clean the size heads they want.. also will offer different size tumbler screens.. 120u and even 70u.. with a catch screen of around 45u. These numbers may vary...

    Coming soon.........
