You could always construct a makeshift shelter for them. Some 2x4's stuck a foot in the ground around them and have them reach about a foot taller than your plants, then just make a roof out of tarp or something. That should be good enough if you construct it well. If its going to be taking some high intensity winds than the better you build it the better it will survive through a storm.
