Default Marco Renda Disses Marc Emery

i'm posting this after reading mrs. jodi emery's fb page.

Marco Renda and Treating Yourself hate Marc Emery

The latest issue of Treating Yourself has an editorial by Marco Renda that is entirely about insulting my husband Marc Emery, and reeks of hypocrisy, arrogance, feigned "unity" calls and utter lies.

I threw out every copy of Treating Yourself Magazine in our store. They aren't allowed here anymore. We used to let Michelle Rainey leave TY mags here so people could have a full choice of cannabis magazines -- but no more, not now that the latest issue's editorial by Marco Renda is all about criticizing Marc and condemning him for the "Time4Hemp" interview in which Marco attacked him (and me!) relentlessly for NO valid reasons.

You can listen to the entire Time 4 Hemp mess of a show here: http://www.americanfreedomradio.com/...32k-031810.mp3

I won't carry a publication in my store that talks trash about my husband. It's no surprise that he's been bitterly holding on to this "interview", enough to write a full screed about it. Marco Renda has been the #1 Emery Hater for years, supporting and publishing the #2 and #3 Emery Haters: crazy "all activists and seed breeders are DEA" and "Marc Emery is a convicted pedophile" bullshitter Joe Pietri, and "Dr." Alexander Sumach (not a doctor) whose book "Grow Your Own Stone" was published by Marc Emery, brought back from obscurity to Sumach's great benefit... but then, after demanding money he was not owed (for website references), Sumach went nuts and now uses numerous online aliases to slander Marc, and doesn't deny it's him doing so. Both make utterly SICK and untrue claims about Marc, lies that are totally unproven and insane.

The hypocrisy of Marco's Treating Yourself editorial is obvious -- he goes off about how Marc has too big of an ego and isn't held "accountable", how we all need to "unite", even while he bashes the most recognized cannabis community uniter in the world... Meanwhile, he's always promoting himself and his magazine to the exclusion of other organizations and activism efforts, while Marc Emery promotes and encourages MANY other organizations and efforts, even ones that differ from his preferred approach (i.e. supporting socialist-leaning political parties like the NDP when they endorsed legalization, even though hes a Libertarian; the cause came first, not his persona).

The editorial is obviously an emotional write-up Marco threw together because he was bitterly humiliated on the radio show. He accuses Marc of having too much ego, while he tries his damnedest to be a recognizable big-wig guy himself with his failed attempts to mimic Marc's successes. Many in the movement and cannabusiness industry agree that Marco Renda is the one with the impossible-to-work-with ego and unearned self-importance, whereas Marc Emery, after decades of successful activism, has at least earned his right to be proud (and every successful person has an ego anyway, it's why they succeed).

So what are the lies in the editorial?

Lie #1: Marco has NEVER tried to work with us, never. But Marc helped improve TY back in 2006 when a Treating Yourself employee came to Marc for advice about making TY a better magazine (at Kindred Cafe during the Magic Bus tour, we sat by the fireplace; for example, Marc said "no more hand-drawn covers, they don't sell" and TY hasn't done a hand-drawn cover since).

Lie #2: Feedback from the interview was against Marco and for Marc, not the other way around. The host of Time 4 Hemp, Casper Leitch, was shocked and appalled, sending me emails during the interview apologizing profusely because he loves Marc, and saying he would not allow Marco to co-host again.

Lie #3: Marc does not propose to be active as a politician -- he's a businessman and activist who created the BC Marijuana Party and ran in elections to keep the issue in the debates and news. He's never said he's a politician, and neither has any media.

Lie #4: Marc DOES answer ALL questions, he never refuses to answer anything, never. He certainly didn't refuse to "answer questions regarding his current situation" -- and the questions Marco asked were not about his current situation at all. They were accusations and insinuations, not even questions. Marco just didn't like the answers Marc gave.

Lie #5: Marc has always been held accountable for all of his actions. He has lived a very transparent life, never hides anything or refuses to say anything (he always tells too much, really!), answers any and all questions given him by the media or individuals, and owns up to his actions by going to jail or paying his dues when required. He never runs away from responsibility, and is ENTIRELY accountable to the public.

Note the hypocrisy of Marco claiming he wants to "unite" and "work together" even though he has never made any effort to work with any activism organizations that I know of, nor take part in our activism campaigns (such as the www.WhyProhibition.ca mass mailing list to stop Bill C-15), nor does he EVER mention anything on his Facebook or website that isn't directly linked to his magazine or expo.

So, here's the editorial. Judge for yourself, and let me know what you think.

    Treating Yourself editorial, #22
    By Marco Renda

    "Activism and Accountability"

Accountability is something that some activists don't think they need to possess. There is often an inability to be answerable for their actions. I find it problematic that we have people who seem to feel that they can say or do anything, while they claim to be representing those who wish to see legalization come to fruition. They make the loudest noise using media coverage, yet are devoid of responsibility and respectability. They do not represent me for one and it's about time that someone said as much.

I have been told that everyone in the marijuana movement needs to provide a united front in order to get laws changed. I can honestly say that I have tried, on several occasions, to work with various individuals in the movement but their EGOS keep getting in the way or they refuse to be team players. Unless they benefited directly, they were not forthcoming with their support, which brings their activism into question.

I was recently asked to be a joint host on the Time 4 Hemp radio program, which I was delighted about. This particular show presented an opportunity to interview Marc Emery. Now most people know that Marc and I don't see eye to eye so I thought that it would be best to ask patients in the movement for assistance in putting together some pertinent questions. The interview started off on a positive note initially, until I started asking questions that Marc Emery deemed inappropriate and rude.

In my opinion, I did not find any of the questions rude or inappropriate. Feedback from listeners indicated that other people also placed their support behind my line of questioning. The only exception to the rule was staunch supporters of Marc Emery. You can make up your own mind by listening to the show yourself at http://www.americanfreedomradio.com/...32k-031810.mp3

If he proposes to be active as a politician, then surely he should be able to answer questions regarding his current situation. Now I don't claim to be free of fault – far from it. I have made my fair share of mistakes and I have always been willing to make amends and admit to when I have been wrong. In other words, I have always learned from my mistakes. A group of activists across Canada have chosen to put all of our differences to rest and successfully work together in order to battle the Canadian Government in the court of law. This refreshes my belief in activism especially after listening to Marc Emery shout about how many films he has been in. I just hope that more people can put aside their differences and try to work with one another towards a common goal. This would pave the way to success and make the movement stronger.

    Take care and peace

Well Marco seems to want to run the National Enquirer of Pot mags. He doesnt check his sources ... just wants to sell mags with stories that stir the pot so to say. What a waste.

Its really a shame. The medical cannabis information is valuable, but not at the cost of Yellow journalism. I had really high hopes for this magazine, but it seems all they want to do is be sensationalistic, and it detracts from the overall quality of the magazine. Marco is ruining the vision of a usefull cannabis magazine for medicinal cannabis users, badly.

Anyone else notice Narco will say anything about anyone, just to get attention. The boy who cried wolf and all. Poor Narco, must be a sad lonely world to need that kind of attention. Burn those bridges Narco, burn'em. LOL. Peace GS
